The Gotland Football Lift

The project aims to strengthen young people's participation in football on Gotland while also raising coaching competence by introducing a research-based digital training platform.

About the project

Youth football on Gotland faces challenges in retaining and engaging young players, especially in rural areas where resources are limited and coaching competence varies. Many volunteer coaches lack support in providing all young people with the same opportunities, and young people are requesting digital solutions that make club life more attractive.
The project aims to offer and test a solution regarding this challenge.
The digital platform to be used in the project, Football Navigator, is based on Nobel Prize-winning brain research (including Cognitive Map Theory). The platform makes qualified training accessible to all young people in rural areas, not just elite-focused players.
Pilot clubs in the project are Fardhem Garda BK and IFK Visby.
