THIS IS HOW PROJECT SUPPORT WORKS!
Project support is for larger development projects with broad support and benefits in one or more areas in Gotland's rural areas.
NOTE! Currently, there are only limited funds available for project support:
Within General Project Support, a total of SEK 500,000 remains to be applied for for one or more projects with different project owners.
Within the Rural Enterprises call, there are 600,000 SEK left to apply for (two grants of a maximum of 300,000 SEK).
To be eligible for project support, the project must meet the basic conditions in the Leader Good strategy. This primarily means that the project must:
- Create development in the island's rural areas
- Demanded and/or run by those who live and work in the area
- Implemented in collaboration
- Be sustainable and inclusive
NOTE! For project support, investments such as construction or purchases can be included as part of the project to achieve its purpose and goals. However, the project and its activities cannot only consist of investments.

”General project support”
Projects seeking this support must be of public benefit and have a local anchor in the island's countryside. They must also fit into one of Leader Good's three focus areas: Living and residing on the whole island, Accelerating climate and energy transition or Sustainable entrepreneurship.
NOTE! There is currently 500,000 SEK left to apply for within General Project Support – for one project or several with different project owners.
Call for proposals "Rural companies"”
This call for Project Support is aimed specifically at companies that have their address and operations in rural areas. The support must be used for sustainable new initiatives. However, it cannot be used for primary production. The project must be implemented in collaboration with at least two other actors.
NOTE! There is currently 600,000 SEK left to apply for within Rural Enterprises (two grants of a maximum of 300,000 SEK).

Checklist – application – prioritization – decision
If your organization or company wants to apply for project support, you should start by submitting a checklist to Leader Gute. There are checklists intended for the two calls that are currently in progress – ”Rural Enterprises” and ”Environmental Projects”. Leader Gute’s office will review the checklist and give you feedback.
The next step is to make an application via the Swedish Board of Agriculture's E-service. Then the Leader Gute board decides on the prioritization of applications received. After that, the Swedish Board of Agriculture makes a decision on support.
You can find more information and the correct checklist via the links to each current call.

Guidelines for prioritizing projects in the event of a shortage of funds
Until May 2026, Leader Gute has allocated a very large part of its budget for project support during the 2023–2027 programming period.
If applications are received that together correspond to a larger amount than the remaining budget, we must prioritize.
Therefore, Leader Gute's board has established guidelines for prioritizing projects in the event of a shortage of funds.
How applied projects are prioritized in the event of a lack of funding may depend on factors such as:
- Which indicators in the Leader Goodes strategic plan does the project contribute to?
- Total score in Leader Good's selection criteria
- Scores in certain selected selection criteria
The entire document with all information about the guidelines for prioritizing projects in the event of a lack of funds is available HERE.
