fole – more fish and living ecosystems
Now a conservation project will be implemented to strengthen the aquatic environment and the biological diversity in the river that flows through Fole. The habitats will be improved for sea trout and other aquatic organisms.
About the project
The project is run by the Swedish Sport Fishing and Fisheries Conservation Association and includes several habitat improvement measures.
Spawning gravel and structural materials will be placed in the river and deeper areas will be restored, especially in the area near ”Såghagen”. This will improve the habitats for sea trout and other aquatic organisms. In addition, the measures will strengthen the river's ability to retain water during dry periods.
Through the project's activities, an attractive and accessible meeting place will also be created by the river that gives the residents of Fole new reasons to stay in and experience this environment.
Together with local businesses, landowners, the Fole local heritage association, and Fole school, educational and practical efforts will be carried out that increase knowledge about life below the water surface and strengthen the long-term local commitment to manage and care for the natural values associated with the watercourse.

The Swedish Board of Agriculture granted the application for project support 2026-09-15.
The purpose of the project:
To strengthen the aquatic environment in the current river and improve the habitats for sea trout and other species by restoring natural variation, reintroducing structural materials, and increasing the watercourse's ability to retain water during dry periods.
Project goals:
To implement habitat improvement, educational, and collaboration-based activities in and around the part of the river in Fole that is covered by the project.
