Limited funds left for project support

Now – in June 2026 – Leader Gute has distributed the vast majority of the budget for project support during this program period (2023–2027). Due to returns from completed projects generated during the spring, there is now a limited amount left to apply for: 500,000 kronor within ”General Project Support” and 600,000 kronor within the call ”Rural Enterprises”.

GENERAL PROJECT SUPPORT

Now there is once again ”General project support” available to apply for from Leader Gute. But the support is limited – there is a total of 500,000 kronor left. The amount can go to one or several projects run by different project owners.

Eligible applicants are local actors within the non-profit, private, or public sector.

Projects applying for general project support must be of public benefit and have local anchoring in the island's countryside. They must also fit into one of Leader Gute's three focus areas:

  • Live and stay on the entire island
  • Accelerating climate and energy transition
  • Sustainable business

THE CALL RURAL ENTERPRISES

The call ”Rural Enterprises” is specifically aimed at businesses with an address and operations in Gotland's rural areas. Currently, there are 600,000 kronor left to apply for within Rural Enterprises (two grants of max 300,000 kronor).

The support can, for example, be used to increase competence in businesses, develop existing products/services, diversify businesses, create new or develop existing collaborations/business networks, or increase services in rural areas.

This can be done through, for example, courses/training, study visits, meetings/workshops, development of prototypes, implementation of tests or consultancy work in the form of, among other things, surveys, analyses or strategy work.

The support may not be used for primary production or regular operations – it must be used for new initiatives focused on social, economic and/or ecological sustainability.

The project must be implemented in collaboration with at least two other actors. The benefits accrue primarily to the project-owning companies and partners, but it must also have some form of positive effect for one or more local rural areas in the sense of the producer.

A company can be granted between 40 and 70% of budgeted costs in a project – up to a maximum support amount of 300,000 SEK.

PRIORITIZATION AND APPLICATION

How Leader Gute's board chooses to prioritize applications in case of potential funding shortages is determined at this stage by ”Guidelines for prioritizing projects in case of funding shortages” which you can download HERE.  Currently, the so-called indicator regarding preserved employment in the island's rural areas is prioritized.
