The EU cannot afford to leave rural areas behind!
The international network ELARD in Europe has started a petition aimed at ensuring that Leader continues to be a part of the EU's development policy.
The petition calls on the European Commission to:
- Make LEADER/CLLD a cornerstone of the EU's rural policy
- Allocate a special budget
- Simplify regulations
- Recognize local action groups (LAGs) as necessary partners in the work on democracy, cohesion, and resilience
The goal: 1 million signatures
When one million names have been collected, the European Commission must address the issue for a decision – for example, as a citizens' initiative.
