Hiking trails in Gotland
Leaders in Gotland will, through the project in coordination, develop a sought-after long-term, comprehensive methodology, communication, and working method for sustainable development and quality assurance of hiking trails throughout Gotland. In this way, the project will facilitate the voluntary work with trails in Gotland so that the voluntary forces are tasked with what they have interest and drive for.
About the project
Through the project, Region Gotland aims to meet several important needs and solve problems that facilitate the work of the voluntary actors. Additionally, they want to meet the needs of society.
Hiking trails constitute natural meeting places where people from different backgrounds and ages can meet. An increasing proportion of people see outdoor life as a decisive factor when choosing a place to live, and today it is as much as 40% of all those looking for new housing who view outdoor life as a decisive factor for choosing a place to move to.
By offering physical meeting places in the form of hiking trails, the opportunity for interaction is promoted, and it also contributes to attracting new residents and a favorable local economy.
Coordinated work can also lead to an increased willingness to engage in and preserve our scenic areas.
The project involves many different actors within hiking. First and foremost, the local leaders who are part of the network – ideas and needs come from them.
Through coordination and collaboration, different experiences and areas of expertise can be utilized to create a common and well-functioning method for, among other things, a responsibility and maintenance plan, a common signage style, and a marketing strategy.

Leader Gute's board decided to prioritize the application for project support on 2024-02-22.
The Swedish Board of Agriculture granted the application for project support on 2024-12-04.
The purpose of the project:
To provide conditions for high-quality existing and upcoming hiking trails in Gotland by gathering local, voluntary leaders.
Project goals:
To develop a methodology to make the hiking trails in Gotland more accessible to different target groups. The methodology should include design, graphic profile, guidelines, and approaches.
