Project support

Sustainable business

This project support aims to contribute to sustainable development in companies with operations in the island's rural areas.

The applicant/project owner must be a company or an economic association with good administrative capacity and liquidity that covers approximately 45% of the project's costs. The projects must be carried out in collaboration between at least three actors and benefit one or more areas in the countryside.

Here, Project Support Sustainable Entrepreneurship is described in more detail. Further down the page, there are instructions on how to apply.

Project focus:

Sustainable local business development. It may involve development in social, economic, and/or ecological sustainability.

Collaboration. The applicant/project owner must be a company/an economic association with local operations in Gotland's countryside. However, the project must be carried out in collaboration between at least three actors. The project-owning company/economic association can collaborate with other actors, e.g., local businesses and/or local associations.

In line with local needs and interests. The benefits the project provides primarily accrue to the project-owning company/the economic association and its collaboration partners. However, the project should also have some form of positive effect for one or more local rural areas in a broader sense. For example, by making the area/areas more attractive to visit, developing services, strengthening a business sector, or creating preserved or new job opportunities. The positive effect for the area/areas should be anchored and documented, e.g., in the form of meetings or a local survey.

Not regular activities. The support must not apply to a company's/the economic association's regular operations – the project must involve some form of new initiative.

Implementation capacity. To be able to make a correct application and report during the project's implementation and conclusion, it is required that the project owner has very good administrative capacity. Competent resources are needed primarily in project management and finance. These resources can be within the organization or hired on a consultancy basis. There needs to be allocated funds for these personnel resources in the project's budget.
