This is how it works – in Four Steps
Project support is intended for larger development projects with broad anchoring and benefit in a community. Applicants can be an association, a company, or an organization. Project support can be applied for within the three areas of intervention: ”Sustainable entrepreneurship,” ”Living and residing on the whole island,” and ”Climate and energy transition.” The support form places high demands on application and reporting. Below we guide you through the entire process in four clear steps.
Step 1
Formulate your project
To begin with, a development idea that is truly in demand in your rural area is needed. The idea should then be refined and summarized in local collaboration into a concrete project with clear goals. It is important that the goals aim for benefits for many in the area.
Step 2
Prepare and write the application
Once the project is formulated, you download our checklist, answer the questions, and submit it to us. We will then assess whether your project has the opportunity to receive support and provide you with feedback. Finally, a formal application is made in the Swedish Board of Agriculture's E-service.
Step 3
The decision-making process
Once your application has been submitted, it is first processed by Leader Gute's office, which may request additional information. It is then assessed by Leader Gute's board (LAG). If LAG prioritizes the application, it proceeds for a decision by the Swedish Board of Agriculture.
Step 4
Implement and conclude
If your application is approved, the project can be implemented with support from Leader Gute. During implementation, it is important to keep track of administration and finances. When the project is completed, it is time to report and apply for payment from the Swedish Board of Agriculture.

The project must fit into our strategy
For a project to be able to apply for project support, it must fit into one of the three areas of intervention in Leader Gute's strategy:
- Sustainable business
- Live and stay on the entire island
- Accelerating climate and energy transition.
Sustainability
Social, economic, and ecological sustainability must be considered throughout the project.
Gender equality
The applicant project's working method and distribution of tasks should be designed so that women and men have equal opportunities to influence the project's design, participate in the implementation, and benefit from the project's results.
Collaboration and anchoring
The project should be based on collaboration in the community. This collaboration should include at least two of the sectors: non-profit, private, and public.
Broad benefit
The project's expected results should be of broad benefit in the community. That is, lead to improvements/development for more than those who carry out the project.
Implementation capacity
There should be financing, competence, and a plan for the project's implementation.
Innovative thinking
The project should create development in various ways – not just support already existing activities.
Non-discrimination
It is an absolute requirement that no one is prevented from influencing the project's design, participating in the implementation, or benefiting from the project's results due to gender, ethnic affiliation, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or age.
